Introduction
Thirteen Dragonmark feats, thirteen matching Greater Mark upgrades, and one capstone-adjacent feat that ties them together: that is the Dragonmark category from Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, and none of it is locked to the Artificer class. A dragonmark is a hereditary sigil tied to one of Khorvaire's Dragonmarked Houses, and in game terms it is a feat any class can take, most often through a dragonmarked-heir background, or through a straightforward feat pick once your table is running an Eberron campaign.
This guide covers all 27 feats: every Dragonmark feat's Intuition benefit, spell benefit, and Spells of the Mark additions, every matching Greater Mark upgrade, and Potent Dragonmark. Boon of Siberys, the Dragonmark-adjacent epic boon for level 19, is covered in the Epic Boons guide instead, since it belongs to a different feat category entirely.

How Dragonmark Feats Work
Every Dragonmark feat shares the same structure. The individual write-ups below focus on what differs between marks.
Prerequisite. Every Dragonmark feat requires an Eberron campaign, and you cannot have another Dragonmark feat. This is a hard exclusivity rule: your character has exactly one dragonmark, ever, chosen once.
Intuition benefit. Each mark grants a themed die bonus (1d4, upgraded to 1d6 by the matching Greater Mark feat) added to a specific pair of ability checks. This works on any check that matches, with no daily limit.
Spellcasting benefit. Each mark grants one or more spell benefits, usually an always-prepared spell castable once for free per Long Rest. Aberrant Dragonmark instead grants a Sorcerer cantrip and one always-prepared 1st-level Sorcerer spell castable once per Short or Long Rest. For the House marks, you choose Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma as the spellcasting ability for the spells when you take the feat, independent of your class's casting stat.
Spells of the Mark. Twelve of the thirteen marks (all but Aberrant) also add a themed 5-level table of spells to your class spell list, but only if you already have the Spellcasting or Pact Magic class feature. A non-caster gets the Intuition bonus and the always-prepared spell but not the expanded list, since there is no spell list for the added spells to join.
Getting one. The cleanest route is a dragonmarked-heir background at character creation, which grants the matching Dragonmark feat as the background's feat. The book says that is the only way to acquire one at level 1. A character with another background can choose a Dragonmark feat whenever they have an unrestricted feat choice, provided they meet the Eberron campaign prerequisite.

Aberrant Dragonmark
● Situational
The odd one out: this is the only Dragonmark feat not tied to a House, and its benefits work differently from the other twelve. Aberrant Fortitude lets you reroll a failed Constitution save with a Reaction (once per Long Rest, add 1d4 to the roll). Aberrant Magic gives you a Sorcerer cantrip of your choice plus a 1st-level Sorcerer spell you always have prepared, cast free once per Short or Long Rest using Constitution as your spellcasting ability. Aberrant Surge triggers whenever you cast that 1st-level spell: expend a Hit Point Die, and on an even roll gain that many Temporary Hit Points, on an odd roll deal that much Force damage to a creature within 30 feet (yourself, if nothing else is in range).
There is no Spells of the Mark table for this one. The self-damage risk on odd rolls and the narrower save-reroll trigger keep it below the House marks for most builds, but the free Sorcerer spell access is a draw for a non-Sorcerer who wants one specific spell off that list.
Mark of Detection
● Good
Deductive Intuition adds 1d4 to Intelligence (Investigation) or Wisdom (Insight) checks. Magical Detection gives you Detect Magic and Detect Poison and Disease always prepared, each free once per Long Rest; at character level 3 you add See Invisibility the same way. Spells of the Mark adds Detect Evil and Good/Identify (1st), Detect Thoughts/Find Traps (2nd), Clairvoyance/Nondetection (3rd), Arcane Eye/Divination (4th), and Legend Lore (5th) to a caster's spell list.
Investigators, party faces double-checking a lie, and any build that wants passive magic-detection coverage get consistent value here without spending a spell slot on the daily basics.
Mark of Finding
● Good
Hunter's Intuition adds 1d4 to Wisdom (Perception or Survival) checks. Finder's Magic gives you Hunter's Mark always prepared, free once per Long Rest; at level 3 you add Locate Object the same way. Spells of the Mark adds Faerie Fire/Longstrider (1st), Locate Animals or Plants/Mind Spike (2nd), Clairvoyance/Speak with Plants (3rd), Divination/Locate Creature (4th), and Commune with Nature (5th).
A free daily Hunter's Mark is a legitimate damage source for any martial build, and the tracking-and-locating theme is strong for a scout or bounty-hunter character concept.
Mark of Handling
● Situational
Wild Intuition adds 1d4 to Intelligence (Nature) or Wisdom (Animal Handling) checks. Primal Connection gives you Animal Friendship and Speak with Animals always prepared, each free once per Long Rest. Monstrous Connections (level 3) lets you target a Monstrosity with either spell if its Intelligence is 3 or lower. Spells of the Mark adds Command/Find Familiar (1st), Beast Sense/Calm Emotions (2nd), Beacon of Hope/Conjure Animals (3rd), Aura of Life/Dominate Beast (4th), and Awaken (5th).
The ceiling is high for a beast-handling or Monstrosity-adjacent build, but the day-to-day value is narrower than the marks with combat or utility-everywhere spells.
Mark of Healing
● Good
Medical Intuition adds 1d4 to Wisdom (Medicine) checks or Herbalism Kit checks. Healing Touch gives you Cure Wounds always prepared, free once per Long Rest; at level 3 you add Lesser Restoration the same way. Spells of the Mark adds False Life/Healing Word (1st), Arcane Vigor/Prayer of Healing (2nd), Aura of Vitality/Mass Healing Word (3rd), Aura of Life/Aura of Purity (4th), and Greater Restoration (5th).
A free daily Cure Wounds and Lesser Restoration is solid value for any non-Cleric who wants a backup healing button, and the level-4 Greater Mark upgrade (below) makes the free casts repeat on your Proficiency Bonus instead of once per day.
Mark of Hospitality
● Situational
Ever Hospitable adds 1d4 to Charisma (Persuasion) checks or Brewer's Supplies/Cook's Utensils checks. Innkeeper's Magic gives you Purify Food and Drink and Unseen Servant always prepared, each free once per Long Rest; at level 3 you add Calm Emotions the same way. Spells of the Mark adds Goodberry/Sleep (1st), Aid/Enhance Ability (2nd), Create Food and Water/Leomund's Tiny Hut (3rd), Aura of Purity/Mordenkainen's Private Sanctum (4th), and Hallow (5th).
Strongest for a downtime-heavy, roleplay-forward campaign built around a House Ghallanda innkeeper or caravan-master concept. The combat value is thin.
Mark of Making
● Essential (for crafting builds)
Artisan's Intuition adds 1d4 to Intelligence (Arcana) checks or any Artisan's Tools check. Spellsmith gives you the Mending cantrip and Magic Weapon always prepared, free once per Long Rest. Spells of the Mark adds Identify/Tenser's Floating Disk (1st), Continual Flame/Spiritual Weapon (2nd), Conjure Barrage/Elemental Weapon (3rd), Fabricate/Stone Shape (4th), and Creation (5th).
This is the mark to build an Artificer around: the Arcana/Artisan's Tools Intuition bonus stacks directly onto the class's own tool-check identity, and Fabricate plus a free Magic Weapon add solid value to a class already built around gear. See the Artificer class guide for the full build, and the Best Feats for Artificer guide for a full breakdown of how this mark's spells overlap with the class's own spell list and where it competes with War Caster and Resilient (Con) for the same early feat slots.
Mark of Passage
● Essential
Courier's Speed adds 5 feet to your Speed outright. Intuitive Motion adds 1d4 to Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks. Magical Passage gives you Misty Step always prepared, free once per Long Rest. Spells of the Mark adds Expeditious Retreat/Jump (1st), Find Steed/Pass without Trace (2nd), Blink/Phantom Steed (3rd), Dimension Door/Freedom of Movement (4th), and Teleportation Circle (5th).
Misty Step for free every day is strong enough to carry a feat slot on its own, the same reason Misty Step access anchors the General Feats guide's top-ranked Fey Touched. Stack the flat Speed boost and this is one of the best all-around Dragonmark picks regardless of class.
Mark of Scribing
● Situational
Gifted Scribe adds 1d4 to Intelligence (History) checks or Calligrapher's Supplies checks. Scribe's Insight gives you the Message cantrip and Comprehend Languages always prepared, free once per Long Rest; at level 3 you add Magic Mouth the same way. Spells of the Mark adds Command/Illusory Script (1st), Animal Messenger/Silence (2nd), Sending/Tongues (3rd), Arcane Eye/Confusion (4th), and Dream (5th).
Strong for an information-broker or House Sivis courier character concept, but the individual spells granted are more utility-flavored than build-defining.
Mark of Sentinel
● Essential (for frontline builds)
Sentinel's Intuition adds 1d4 to Wisdom (Insight or Perception) checks. Guardian's Shield gives you Shield always prepared, free once per Long Rest. Vigilant Guardian lets you take a Reaction to swap places with an ally within 5 feet who is about to be hit, taking the attack yourself instead, a number of times per Long Rest equal to your Proficiency Bonus. Spells of the Mark adds Compelled Duel/Shield of Faith (1st), Warding Bond/Zone of Truth (2nd), Counterspell/Protection from Energy (3rd), Death Ward/Guardian of Faith (4th), and Bigby's Hand (5th).
A free daily Shield and repeatable ally-swapping makes this one of the strongest defensive Dragonmark picks in the book, and it fits a bodyguard or House Deneith warrior concept mechanically as well as thematically.
Mark of Shadow
● Essential
Cunning Intuition adds 1d4 to Dexterity (Stealth) or Charisma (Performance) checks. Shape Shadows gives you the Minor Illusion cantrip and Invisibility always prepared, free once per Long Rest. Spells of the Mark adds Disguise Self/Silent Image (1st), Darkness/Pass without Trace (2nd), Clairvoyance/Major Image (3rd), Greater Invisibility/Hallucinatory Terrain (4th), and Mislead (5th).
Free daily Invisibility is the same high-value benefit the General Feats guide gives Shadow Touched credit for, and it costs nothing but the feat slot. It suits any stealth-leaning build, not just Rogues.
Mark of Storm
● Good
Windwright's Intuition adds 1d4 to Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks or Navigator's Tools checks. Storm's Boon grants Resistance to Lightning damage outright. Storm Magic gives you the Thunderclap cantrip; at level 3 you add Gust of Wind always prepared, free once per Long Rest. Spells of the Mark adds Feather Fall/Fog Cloud (1st), Levitate/Shatter (2nd), Sleet Storm/Wind Wall (3rd), Conjure Minor Elemental/Control Water (4th), and Conjure Elemental (5th).
A flat Lightning resistance and free weather/wind control fits a House Lyrandar sailor or airship-crew concept well, and the resistance has passive value in any campaign that throws lightning damage around.
Mark of Warding
● Good
Warder's Intuition adds 1d4 to Intelligence (Investigation) checks or Thieves' Tools checks. Wards and Seals gives you Alarm and Mage Armor always prepared, each free once per Long Rest; at level 3 you add Arcane Lock the same way. Spells of the Mark adds Armor of Agathys/Sanctuary (1st), Knock/Nystul's Magic Aura (2nd), Glyph of Warding/Magic Circle (3rd), Leomund's Secret Chest/Mordenkainen's Faithful Hound (4th), and Antilife Shell (5th).
Free daily Mage Armor is a useful AC floor for a lightly armored caster who took this mark for the Investigation bonus, and the security-and-defense theme fits a House Kundarak vault-guard concept cleanly.

Start BuildingThe 13 Greater Mark Feats
Every Greater Mark feat requires level 4+ and the matching Dragonmark feat. Each improves an existing mark benefit and grants an ability score increase. A matching Greater Mark is a strong choice for a character built around that mark, but it still competes with every other General Feat at that level.
| Feat | Ability Score Increase | Upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Greater Aberrant Mark | +1 Constitution | Aberrant Fortitude rerolls 1d6 instead of 1d4 and recharges on a Short or Long Rest; Mark of Inspiration adds a new cantrip-triggered Temp HP + Force damage effect using spent Hit Point Dice, uses equal to Proficiency Bonus |
| Greater Mark of Detection | +1 any score | Deductive Intuition rerolls 1d6; Shared Detection extends a free-cast See Invisibility to one ally within 30 feet |
| Greater Mark of Finding | +1 any score | Hunter's Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Finding doubles Hunter's Mark's range and denies the target's Invisible condition benefit against you |
| Greater Mark of Handling | +1 any score | Wild Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Handling lets your mount Reaction-attack or move after you hit a nearby target; Subdue Animal adds a Proficiency-Bonus-per-Long-Rest Frightened effect on a nearby Beast or Monstrosity |
| Greater Mark of Healing | +1 any score | Medical Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Healing turns your free Cure Wounds casts into a Proficiency-Bonus-per-Long-Rest pool and upgrades low healing-die rolls to a minimum of 3 |
| Greater Mark of Hospitality | +1 any score | Ever Hospitable rerolls 1d6; Inspired Hospitality lets Purify Food and Drink refresh allies instead, reducing Exhaustion by 1 and granting Temporary Hit Points, once per Long Rest |
| Greater Mark of Making | +1 any score | Artisan's Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Making upgrades your free Magic Weapon cast to its 3rd-level version |
| Greater Mark of Passage | +1 any score | Intuitive Motion rerolls 1d6; Inspired Passage lets up to two willing allies within 30 feet Reaction-teleport 30 feet alongside your free Misty Step |
| Greater Mark of Scribing | +1 any score | Gifted Scribe rerolls 1d6; Inspired Scribing extends Comprehend Languages to three willing creatures and adds 1-mile telepathy between them, once per Long Rest |
| Greater Mark of Sentinel | +1 any score | Sentinel's Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Sentinel adds a weapon or Unarmed Strike attack to your Vigilant Guardian Reaction |
| Greater Mark of Shadow | +1 any score | Cunning Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Shadow upgrades your free Invisibility cast to its 3rd-level version |
| Greater Mark of Storm | +1 any score | Windwright's Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Storm adds a 60-foot Fly Speed for the duration when you free-cast Gust of Wind |
| Greater Mark of Warding | +1 any score | Warder's Intuition rerolls 1d6; Improved Warding adds a Proficiency-Bonus-per-Long-Rest Reaction to impose Disadvantage on an attack against you or a nearby ally |
Every Greater Mark's rating tracks its base Dragonmark feat. A mark with a strong or solid dot above can make its matching Greater Mark a good next feat choice. Greater Aberrant Mark closes some of the base feat's gap with a recharging save reroll and a cantrip payoff, but it remains more conditional than the broadly useful marks.
Potent Dragonmark
● Essential (for committed Dragonmark builds)
Prerequisite: Level 4+, any Dragonmark feat.
Dragonmark Preparation makes every spell on your Spells of the Mark list always prepared, if you have one. Dragonmark Spellcasting adds one extra spell slot, sized at half your character level rounded up (capped at 5th), that recharges on a Short or Long Rest. You can spend that slot only on a spell prepared because of your Dragonmark feat or Dragonmark Preparation.
The feat turns an expanded Spells of the Mark list into prepared choices and gives those mark spells a limited extra slot. It is most useful for a spellcasting character who expects to cast from that list often; a martial character using only a free mark spell may prefer a different General Feat.
Choosing Your Dragonmark
Two paths get you here. The dragonmarked-heir backgrounds grant a specific Dragonmark feat as the background's feat at character creation, tied to House identity: a Medani heir gets Mark of Detection, a Cannith heir gets Mark of Making, and so on. Outside a themed background, a character can choose a Dragonmark feat whenever they have an unrestricted feat choice in an Eberron campaign, then consider Potent Dragonmark once eligible.
Either path, match the mark to what your character already does instead of picking for the spell list alone. Mark of Sentinel and Mark of Passage work on almost any build because Shield, Misty Step, and their Intuition checks remain useful in combat. Mark of Making is the strongest pick specifically for Artificer builds; see the Artificer class guide's Feat Synergies section and the Best Feats for Artificer guide for how it slots in alongside War Caster and Resilient (Constitution). The narrower marks (Aberrant, Handling, Hospitality, Scribing) are best reserved for characters whose concept already leans into that mark's flavor.
Hot Take: Mark of Passage and Mark of Sentinel are the two Dragonmark feats worth taking purely on mechanics, no House roleplay required. A free daily Misty Step or a free daily Shield plus a reaction that lets you eat a hit meant for an ally would each be a strong pick as a standalone General Feat if WotC printed them that way. Everything else on this list rewards you more for matching the mark to your character concept than for raw power.
Bottom Line
Twenty-seven feats, one shared shape: an Eberron campaign prerequisite, a themed skill-check bonus, a free prepared spell tied to a spellcasting ability you choose, and (for twelve of the thirteen marks) an expanded spell list if you already cast spells. None of it requires playing an Artificer. Mark of Passage, Mark of Sentinel, Mark of Shadow, and Mark of Making are the strongest picks on raw mechanics; the rest reward a character whose background and House identity already point that direction. Take the matching Greater Mark feat once you hit level 4, and add Potent Dragonmark once you have a feat slot to spare; both exist specifically to make your Dragonmark feat better rather than to compete with it for a different build path.
