Our Commitment
No marketing jargon, no fine print. Here's exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Last updated: April 2026
When you sign up, we collect your email, display name, and password (hashed for security). If you create a GM listing, we collect your location, availability, system preferences, and any bio you provide. If you're a creator, we also collect payment information to process payouts.
If you use Game Finder, we track which games you've booked or listed, session dates, player counts, and system played. This helps us improve recommendations and support dispute resolution if needed.
When you buy content, we keep records of what you purchased, when, and how much you paid. If you purchase digital items for recurring campaigns, we may store some preference data to make future purchases faster.
We track which pages you visit, how long you stay, which guides you read, and which system filters you use most. This helps us understand what content matters to the community and where to invest.
If you contact us, email us corrections, or participate in community feedback, we keep those messages to improve the platform and respond to you.
We use your information to authenticate you, process bookings and payments, deliver digital content, and maintain your account.
Analytics help us see which guides are most-read, which systems need better coverage, and where Game Finder search results miss the mark. We use this to prioritize our work.
We use your contact info to respond to inquiries, send booking confirmations, notify you of content updates in systems you follow, and alert you if there's a security issue with your account.
Creators and GMs who earn money through the platform provide payment info (bank details, tax ID). This is processed securely and used only to deposit earnings.
We do not sell your data to marketers, advertisers, or brokers. Full stop.
We use third-party services for payment processing (Stripe), hosting (Vercel), and analytics (Vercel Analytics). These companies process data under strict contracts and cannot use it for their own purposes.
When you book a game, the GM sees your name and email (and vice versa). Your display name and profile appear on your public creator page if you're in the Market. Game Finder listings are public.
We may disclose data if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that it's necessary to protect against fraud, security threats, or harm.
As long as your account is active, we keep all associated data — account info, booking history, content purchases, creator earnings, etc.
When you delete your account, we remove personally identifiable information within 30 days. However, anonymized usage data and transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and tax compliance.
We use cookies to keep you logged in and to track general site usage. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings without breaking core functionality.
You have the right to request a copy of all data we hold about you. Submit a request via your account settings or email [email protected], and we'll provide it within 30 days.
You can edit most of your account information directly. To delete your account, go to account settings and select 'Delete Account.' This removes your profile and data (subject to retention policies above).
You can unsubscribe from system update emails, creator content alerts, and booking reminders in your notification preferences. We'll still send critical messages (password resets, security alerts, payment confirmations).
If you're in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR. Email [email protected] with your request, and we'll honor it within the required timeframe.
All data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Payment information is processed via PCI-compliant third parties — we never store raw card data.
No system is 100% secure. If there's a breach, we'll notify affected users within 72 hours and provide clear guidance on next steps.
Don't share your password. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password immediately and email [email protected].
We may link to publisher sites, D&D Beyond, Roll20, and other RPG platforms. We're not responsible for their privacy practices. Always check their policies before sharing data.
The Role Players Guild is not for children under 13. If we become aware of data from someone under 13, we'll delete it immediately. Parents concerned about their child's account should contact [email protected].
We may update this policy. If there are material changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after updates means you accept the new policy.
Email [email protected] with any questions or concerns about this policy. We read every email and respond within 5 business days.
