The Druid gets a feat decision at levels 4, 8, 12, and 16, followed by an Epic Boon or another qualifying feat at 19. The right choice depends less on a universal ranking than on whether your Druid is maintaining spells, working from Warden's martial training, or spending turns in Wild Shape.
This guide compares the Druid-relevant choices in the 2024 Player's Handbook, then points to the D&D 2024 Feat Guides hub for the wider list. A background grants its Origin Feat at character creation; it is not competing for one of the Druid's later feat choices.

Druid feat access and timing
| Character point | What the rules give you | What to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Background | One Origin Feat | Choose a background whose feat, abilities, skills, equipment, and campaign story work together. |
| Levels 4, 8, 12, and 16 | Ability Score Improvement or another qualifying feat | Compare the feat against an ability-score increase and the actions you actually repeat. |
| Level 19 | Epic Boon or another qualifying feat | The class recommends Boon of Dimensional Travel. |
Start with how your Druid acts
Primal Order comes online at level 1, and your circle arrives at level 3. Those choices matter more than a generic list of "best" feats.
| Druid approach | Rules hook | Feat question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Magician | An extra Druid cantrip and a Wisdom-based bonus to Arcana or Nature checks | Do you want to maintain a spell often enough that concentration protection changes your play? |
| Warden | Martial weapon proficiency and medium armor training | Are weapon attacks actually a repeated part of your turn, and do you meet a feat's listed prerequisites? |
| Wild Shape | You retain feats and class features, normally cannot cast spells, and keep ongoing effects such as concentration | Will the feat matter while shaped, or is it preparing the spell or defense that you carry into that form? |
| Circle of the Land, Moon, Sea, or Stars | Each circle spends Wild Shape and its class features differently | Revisit the choice after the circle's turn pattern is clear at your table. |
Hot Take: A Wild Shape Druid does not get to ignore concentration choices. Shape-shifting preserves an ongoing spell, so the relevant question is whether your usual turns leave that spell in play long enough for the protection to matter.
General Feats to Compare
These are comparisons, not a mandatory order. Check every prerequisite and choose the option that supports your current ability scores and the spell or action pattern you use most.
| Feat | What it provides | Best question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| War Caster ● | A +1 Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma increase; advantage on Constitution saves to maintain concentration; and its other spellcasting benefits | Is concentration loss the failure point in the encounters you play? |
| Resilient ● | A +1 increase to an ability score that lacks saving throw proficiency, plus proficiency in that save | Is Constitution the ability score you need to improve and a save proficiency you do not already have? Druids start proficient in Intelligence and Wisdom saves. |
| Fey-Touched ● | A +1 Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma increase; Misty Step; and a chosen level 1 Divination or Enchantment spell | Will the prepared spells and once-per-Long-Rest free casts fill a real gap in your character's plan? |
| Observant ● | A +1 Intelligence or Wisdom increase plus stronger Investigation, Insight, or Perception options | Does the campaign give these skills and the Search action regular consequences? |
| Elemental Adept ● | A +1 Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma increase and benefits for one chosen elemental damage type | Do your regularly prepared spells consistently deal that one damage type? |
| Spell Sniper ● | A +1 Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma increase and benefits for spell attack rolls | Are spell attack rolls, rather than saving throws or support spells, central to your actual turns? |

Start BuildingOrigin Feat routes at character creation
The D&D 2024 Origin Feats guide has the full feat breakdown. For a Druid, these backgrounds offer different ability-score and skill packages that support different jobs.
| Background and Origin Feat | What it supports | Decision check |
|---|---|---|
| Hermit - Healer ● | A support-minded Druid with Medicine and Wisdom in the background package | Will Battle Medic and healing rerolls see use in the party you expect? |
| Guide - Magic Initiate (Druid) ● | A character whose Survival, Stealth, and Druid spell selections support the concept | Does the extra prepared Druid spell and free casting complement the rest of the background? |
| Criminal or Guard - Alert ● | A Druid who values initiative and perception or stealth skills | Does the background's ability-score package work as well as Alert's initiative benefit? |
| Farmer - Tough ● | A character who wants the Farmer's Strength, Constitution, and Wisdom options alongside more hit points | Is durability more valuable to this campaign than the utility from another complete background package? |
Choices that do not become Druid picks automatically
Warden grants martial weapons and medium armor, not the Fighting Style feature. A Fighting Style Feat therefore remains unavailable to a single-class Druid unless another rule gives that prerequisite. Likewise, a weapon feat needs more than a weapon on the equipment list: confirm its ability-score and weapon-property prerequisites, then confirm that making those attacks is your normal turn.
Do not treat a circle name as a feat prerequisite. Circle of the Moon, for example, changes how its Druid uses Wild Shape; it does not make every melee-oriented feat available or useful. Level 18 Beast Spells also changes the spellcasting calculation, but it arrives after the four regular Druid feat levels.
Sequence choices around your circle
| Level | A useful review point | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Background and Origin Feat | It establishes an early ability-score, skill, and utility package before your first normal feat. |
| 3 | Circle of the Land, Moon, Sea, or Stars | Your circle clarifies whether your Wild Shape use, spell plan, or battlefield role drives the next choice. |
| 4 | First normal feat or Ability Score Improvement | Compare concentration protection, a Wisdom increase, and your circle's actual first-tier routine. |
| 8, 12, and 16 | Reassess rather than follow a fixed list | A later feat should answer the problem that still appears in play, not duplicate a solved one. |
| 19 | Epic Boon or another qualifying feat | Boon of Dimensional Travel is the Druid's recommended option. |
Level 19: Boon of Dimensional Travel
Boon of Dimensional Travel can increase an ability score by 1, up to 30, and lets you teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see after taking the Attack or Magic action. It is the Druid's recommended Epic Boon, so compare it with another qualifying feat only if that feat solves a specific remaining need better.
