Warlocks are the most resource-constrained class in D&D 5e 2014. Their Pact Magic gives very few spell slots (1-4 per short rest recovery cycle) that must cover their entire spell contribution. Every decision (invocation, patron feature, or feat) must either protect their limited resources or supplement their slot economy. Feats that grant free spells (Fey Touched, Shadow Touched) are disproportionately valuable because they operate entirely outside the spell slot system.
Warlocks receive three ASI/feat slots by level 12 and have Charisma as their primary stat.

Warlock Feat Priorities
- Charisma 20 - Spell save DC and Eldritch Blast attack modifier
- War Caster - Protect Hex concentration
- Fey Touched or Shadow Touched - Free spells outside the slot economy
- Eldritch Adept - Expand the invocation count
Top Feats for Warlock
● War Caster
Hex requires concentration. Warlocks spam Hex across every encounter (and between short rests, Hex lasts 1 hour). A failed concentration save removes their primary damage multiplier mid-combat. War Caster prevents this. War Caster guide
● Fey Touched
+1 Charisma (spell save DC and EB attack roll), free Misty Step once per long rest (Warlocks normally lack teleportation, so this is a major mobility addition), and a 1st-level enchantment/divination spell free daily. Silvery Barbs is the top enchantment pick: a reaction that punishes enemy success rolls. Free Misty Step alone justifies this feat for most Warlock builds. Fey Touched guide
● Shadow Touched
+1 Charisma, free Invisibility once per long rest (Warlocks using Darkness + Devil's Sight become invisible on top of combat blind), and a 1st-level illusion/necromancy spell. For Great Old One or Fathomless Warlocks who lean into stealth and infiltration, Shadow Touched is a natural pairing. Shadow Touched guide
● Eldritch Adept
Adds one more Eldritch Invocation to your list. For Warlocks who want a specific invocation but can't free up a class invocation slot, Eldritch Adept is the solution. The best targets: invocations that are strong but would require dropping something else (non-core invocations like Mask of Many Faces, Misty Visions, or Gaze of Two Minds). Eldritch Adept guide
● Lucky
Three rerolls per long rest on Eldritch Blast attack rolls, concentration saves, and social Charisma checks. Warlocks short-rest frequently, so Lucky's long-rest refresh means three uses available every adventuring day between rests. Lucky guide
● Resilient (Constitution)
Constitution save proficiency protects Hex concentration alongside War Caster. For builds that want both defensive layers on concentration, Resilient (Con) is the next step after War Caster. Resilient guide
● Spell Sniper
Warlocks who use Eldritch Blast as their primary cantrip benefit from Spell Sniper: doubled EB range (240 feet) and ignored cover. Combined with Agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast, long-range EB becomes a formidable threat. Spell Sniper guide
● Scion of the Outer Planes (Planescape)
Campaign-gated, and usually free via the Gate Warden or Planar Philosopher background. The free cantrip's spellcasting ability is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma - pick Charisma to scale it with the same stat that already drives your Eldritch Blast invocations. Start BuildingFeats to Avoid
Metamagic Adept. Requires Spellcasting or Pact Magic. Warlocks qualify, but 2 sorcery points is too limited to make a Metamagic engine worth a feat slot when invocations already provide Warlock-specific power. Metamagic Adept guide
Magic Initiate. Warlocks already have limited slot space; cross-list spell access for one free cast per long rest is inefficient compared to Fey Touched which also gives a stat bump.
Sentinel. Warlocks are primarily ranged and kiting characters. Melee lockdown is not their role.
Example Feat Progression
Level 4: War Caster. Protecting Hex from the first dungeon level is critical. This is almost always the correct level-4 pick.
Level 8: Fey Touched (Charisma bump + free Misty Step + free enchantment spell). After War Caster handles concentration, Fey Touched adds mobility and a free-slot spell.
Level 12: Eldritch Adept or Lucky. Eldritch Adept expands the Warlock's invocation count (one more from any list). Lucky provides three rerolls on EB attacks, concentration, and social Charisma.
FAQ
Do Warlocks need War Caster? Yes. Hex concentration is the primary damage multiplier, and it must be protected.
Eldritch Adept vs other feats? Eldritch Adept shines when you want a specific invocation that cannot fit in your class allocation.
Is Resilient (Con) good? Yes. Alongside War Caster, it gives double concentration protection.
Why are free-spell feats disproportionately good for Warlocks? Warlocks have very few slots. Free casts outside the slot economy are especially efficient for resource-scarce classes.
Should a Warlock take Lucky? Yes. After primary feats, Lucky is the best general-purpose investment.
