## Introduction

Spellborn Syderean (Labyrinth Worldbook) is not a new base lineage. It is an additional Syderean Natural Adaptation that trades Celestial flight or Fiendish fear for Energy Form: a one-minute arcane transformation with defensive resistance, restraint immunity, and damage-type conversion.

This is the caster-friendly Syderean option. Celestial is about flight and radiant identity. Fiendish is about fear pressure. Spellborn is about becoming raw magic for one decisive encounter.

## Lineage Traits

### Rating Key

- <span style={{ color: '#ef4444' }}>●</span> **Red** - Bad.
- <span style={{ color: '#f97316' }}>●</span> **Orange** - Situational.
- <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span> **Green** - Good.
- <span style={{ color: '#3b82f6' }}>●</span> **Blue** - Fantastic.

Options from Labyrinth Worldbook are marked with `(Labyrinth Worldbook)`.

### Syderean Base Traits <span style={{ color: '#3b82f6' }}>●</span>

You still use the Syderean chassis: Far Sight, necrotic resistance, and doubled survival time. That is already a strong foundation.

### Energy Form <span style={{ color: '#3b82f6' }}>●</span>

Once per long rest, transform for 1 minute. Choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder. While transformed, you resist nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, are immune to restrained, and can convert damage from an attack or spell once per turn to the chosen type.

### Damage Conversion <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span>

The conversion is flexible but encounter-dependent. It is best when you know enemy resistances or need to force a specific damage type for theme or tactics.

## Best Classes for Spellborn Syderean

### Sorcerer <span style={{ color: '#3b82f6' }}>●</span>

The best fit. Energy Form feels like a bloodline awakening and protects a fragile caster in the fight that matters.

### Wizard <span style={{ color: '#3b82f6' }}>●</span>

Damage conversion on spells plus anti-restrained defense gives Wizard a strong panic mode.

### Warlock <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span>

Converting repeated attack damage and resisting weapon pressure both support Warlock's encounter rhythm.

### Bard <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span>

Bard does not exploit damage conversion as hard as Sorcerer or Wizard, but defensive transformation is still useful.

### Fighter <span style={{ color: '#f97316' }}>●</span>

Melee Fighters like the defensive side but usually get less from the arcane damage flexibility than casters do.

## Heritage Pairings

**[Boatwright (Labyrinth Worldbook)](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#boatwright-labyrinth-worldbook)** <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span>
One of the recommended pairings. Strong for Styx-traveler, ferryman, and world-crossing Syderean concepts.

**[Exalted (Labyrinth Worldbook)](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#exalted-labyrinth-worldbook)** <span style={{ color: '#3b82f6' }}>●</span>
Excellent for high-magic or celestial-arcane Sydereans.

**[Stygian (Labyrinth Worldbook)](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#stygian-labyrinth-worldbook)** <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span>
Strong for darker planar themes and characters shaped by the underworld.

**[Cloud](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#cloud)** <span style={{ color: '#22c55e' }}>●</span>
Adds more arcane utility and works well when Labyrinth heritages are not available.

### Player's Guide 2 Heritage Options

**[Coterminous (Player's Guide 2)](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#coterminous-players-guide-2)** is the strongest planar fit for spellborn shaped by overlapping worlds.

**[Covenant (Player's Guide 2)](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#covenant-players-guide-2)** supports magical oaths, arcane orders, and patron-bound spellborn.

**[Feysworn (Player's Guide 2)](/articles/tales-of-the-valiant/heritage-guide#feysworn-players-guide-2)** works for spellborn whose arcane source is fey-touched rather than scholarly.

## Hot Takes

> **Hot Take:** Spellborn Syderean (Labyrinth Worldbook) is the Syderean option for players who wanted the lineage to be about magic instead of morality. That is a much cleaner fit for Sorcerers and Wizards.

> **Hot Take:** Energy Form's restraint immunity is the sneaky power. Damage conversion gets attention, but not getting pinned, webbed, or locked down is what saves the encounter.

## Final Notes

Spellborn Syderean (Labyrinth Worldbook) expands Syderean into a true arcane lineage option. Choose it when you want the planar-blood fantasy without committing to Celestial wings or Fiendish fear.
