## The Short Answer

**A Rockerboy gives the crew an audience that can care, organize, and make a job public.** Charismatic Impact can turn a person or group into Fans outside combat, then lets the Rockerboy ask those Fans for a favor within the ability's limits. It is not mind control and it is not a replacement for the job. It creates people who have chosen to listen, and makes the crew decide what it is willing to ask of them.

Start by naming the Rockerboy's message and audience: tenants facing an eviction, exhausted clinic workers, a neighborhood dance scene, people hurt by a corporation, or a local music crowd. The clearer the audience, the easier it is for the GM to show why a performance, rumor, or public act matters.

## Hot Take

The strongest Rockerboy scene is not the one where the crowd does what the crew wants. It is the one where the crowd asks what the crew is willing to do for the cause.

A fan who can offer a safe place, a warning, a ride, or a public turnout should also be someone the crew might endanger. Let influence create responsibility. If the party asks people to show up, speak out, or take a risk, it should have a plan for what happens when the powerful people being challenged notice.

## Charismatic Impact Starts With Fans

The Core Rulebook gives Charismatic Impact two stages. Outside combat, the Rockerboy can make a person or group that does not actively dislike them into Fans with an ability check. The GM can also decide that someone is already a Fan. The Rockerboy can then ask Fans for a favor, with the ability's Rank setting whether the request is possible and the group size setting the check difficulty.

| Part of the ability | What it changes at the table | Useful crew question |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Message and presence | Establishes why someone stops, listens, or follows the Rockerboy. | What does this audience need to hear right now? |
| Fans | Creates a relationship the Rockerboy can call on later. | Why does this person trust the Rockerboy, and what do they expect in return? |
| Favor | Gives the crew a possible action with a human cost. | Is this worth asking of someone who cannot absorb the consequences like an edgerunner can? |
| Venue and reach | Signals the scale of the Rockerboy's public influence. | Which community will notice this message first? |

Keep the exact DVs, Rank effects, venue tiers, fan-group sizes, and favor limits in the Core Rulebook. The important campaign result is that the Rockerboy has an audience with memory, not an unlimited pool of assistants.

## Build An Audience With A Specific Stake

Do not make every person in Night City a potential fan. Choose an audience with a concrete reason to hear this Rockerboy.

| Audience | What brings them together | What can put them at risk |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Club regulars | A scene, a venue, and a night they protect from corporate polish. | A landlord, security firm, rival venue, or police attention. |
| Neighborhood workers | A shared shift, commute, shortage, or local employer. | Lost jobs, harassment, rent pressure, or an unsafe route home. |
| Community organizers | A practical demand around housing, food, health, or safety. | Informants, intimidation, exhausted volunteers, or a compromised ally. |
| Fans at a public feed | A message that travels beyond the club. | Misquotation, corporate counter-programming, surveillance, or a public threat. |

Use the [Cyberpunk RED Night City Guide](/articles/cyberpunk-red/night-city-guides) to give that audience a district, resource, and local authority. A cause becomes playable when it needs a place to meet, someone to protect, and a reason the crew cannot simply walk away after the set ends.

## Ask For Favors That Create Play

When a Fan agrees to help, make the favor visible and limited. A good request changes the current plan without deleting its pressure.

| Favor type | What it can do | What it should not do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Local introduction | Get the crew a conversation with a witness, organizer, venue owner, or neighborhood contact. | Prove the contact is trustworthy or solve the problem for the party. |
| Warning or information | Reveal a patrol, a hostile group, a schedule, or a change in local mood. | Replace investigation or guarantee the information is complete. |
| Practical support | Provide a ride, crowd cover, a short distraction, a place to wait, or a public turnout. | Make a dangerous operation consequence-free. |
| Public pressure | Draw attention to a problem, create a visible question, or make an opponent explain itself. | Force an institution to surrender without the crew gathering leverage. |

The Core Rulebook limits what a favor can be at each Rank and says a failed request cannot simply be repeated to the same Fans immediately. Treat that as a relationship consequence. A Rockerboy who asks too much needs to rebuild trust, show up for the community, or find a different way to help.

## Make The Performance A Crew Job

A performance or public action should give every Role an active contribution.

| Crew contribution | What it can do for the scene |
| --- | --- |
| Solo or Lawman | Protect the venue, identify a threat, or create an exit before a response arrives. |
| Netrunner | Check a feed, expose a security problem, or keep a hostile system from silencing the event. |
| Tech or Medtech | Keep equipment or people functional through a bad situation. |
| Media | Verify the claim, record the event, and decide what public story will survive afterward. |
| Fixer, Exec, or Nomad | Find a venue, negotiate access, bring in resources, or get the people who need help out safely. |

The Rockerboy chooses the message and the audience. The rest of the crew helps make the promise credible. This keeps Charismatic Impact connected to the same objective, danger, and aftermath as everyone else's play.

## Let Influence Have An Aftermath

Every public moment should change at least one relationship. After the scene, ask these questions:

1. Who now knows the Rockerboy's message or face?
2. Which Fan is grateful, worried, or disappointed?
3. Who lost money, status, secrecy, or control because the crowd paid attention?
4. What does the audience need before it will trust the crew again?
5. What new job follows from the promise made on stage?

This is where a Rockerboy differs from a persuasive character who finishes a conversation and moves on. The audience persists. It can be a refuge, an information network, a political cost, or the people the crew must protect when a job becomes too visible.
